Originally from Tokyo, Japan, Mana Shimonao moved to Springfield, Kentucky in 2008. She has been joyfully serving in the music ministry at our church for the past 10 years. She plans and leads worship, directs the choirs and musicians, leads our music ministry and outreach initiatives, and much more!
Mana earned her bachelor’s degree in music education in Japan and continued her studies in opera for three years at a music institute. She partnered with a music therapist to visit nursing homes, sharing the joy of music with the elderly. She also served as a pianist and organist at her church in Japan for 11 years.
Since moving to Kentucky, Mana has performed with the ensemble group Silver & Strings for nine years, bringing live music to nursing homes and schools each week—reaching those who might not otherwise have access to concerts. She also assists students in preparing for auditions, including the Distinguished Young Women program and the Governor’s School for the Arts.
Mana currently serves as a piano accompanist at Campbellsville University. She and her husband, Masa, were married in 2003 and live with two cats. She loves coffee, dark chocolates and enjoys long-distance running with Masa – always with plenty of snacks!
Mana’s passion is to share the joy of music as a gift from God and to help others experience of His presence through music.
